General Pension Information

Information regarding State Pension and Winter Fuel Payments taken from the National Pensioners Convention

The 2011 state pension increase will be taken from September’s 2010 RPI (Retail Price Index) which was 4.6%, giving a £4.50 increase in the Basic State Pension for a single person, and £7.20 for a couple. In 2012 the price measure for pension increases will be taken from the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

From April 2011 Pension Credit will rise in line with the cash increase of the Basic State Pensions.

Winter fuel allowance will be cut in 2011. For under 80’s it will drop to £200 and for over 80’s it will be £300.

In 2018 the State Retirement Age will equalise for men and women and this will increase to 66 years by April 2020.

From April 2011 Housing Benefit will be capped at £440 for a four bedroomed house, £340 for a three bedroomed house, £290 for a two bedroomed property and £250 for a one bedroomed property.

Undergraduate requires help with research.

Can you help an Undergraduate at Plymouth University with her Research? The lady is studying Applied Psychology and is looking for people, especially those who have served in the Forces to help with her research.

You would be required to complete a questionnaire and the research is about people, especially those who have served in the Forces and have overcome difficulties in their lives.

If you are willing to participate, please either contact the SAMA Office or visit the Members Only area of the Discussion Board.

Pen y Fan Walk 2011

This event will take place on Saturday 13th August 2011. Put this date in your diary NOW as this is one of the main fundraising events for the Memorial to be built at the National Memorial Arboretum.
