Bristol Care and Repair looking to employ disabled ex service personnel.

Bristol Care and Repair is a voluntary organization based in Bristol and South Gloucestershire that carries out building repairs and adaptions to homes for the elderly, disabled or low income homeowners

They are looking to employ a disabled ex-serviceman or woman preferably with experience in the building trade but would consider administration, IT, public relations, trainee posts. The key qualities they are looking for in a candidate is a ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to improving the housing, health and welfare of older and disabled people.

Salary and hours are negotiable, dependent on the position.

Vacancies for disabled ex-service person

Community based sport and fitness wellbeing centre in Southwark is seeking 2 disabled ex service personnel for i) Trainee Sports Assistant ii) Trainee Pool Lifeguard/Swim Teacher

Both jobs are approximately 25 hours per week. Hourly rate is £9.50.

There are still some vacancies for SAM holders, in receipt of a War Pension, to attend this event.

Please contact the office if you would like more information on this event, or would like to put your name forward.

The Not Forgotten Association’s criteria for this event is that you are in receipt of a War Pension and that you have not attended a garden party or Royal event in the past 12 months. Transport to and from the event is at your own expense.

Whilst this is for members only in the first instance, there are spaces available if you need to take an escort.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 6th May 2011.

Calling All SAMA Members, Down Under

Take part in the annual ANZAC Day parade. Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Cangerra, Darwin, Perth, Hobart, and other regional centres. 25th April 2011. Dawn Service and March Past.

If you are the holder of the SAM and currently reside in Australia, did you know you are welcome to join in the annual ANZAC day service and parades?

Please pass the word around for all those who served in 1982 to come along and join in.

Pen y Fan Sponsored Walk, Saturday 13th August 2011

Are you taking part in the walk to raise funds for the Memorial. If so please register with the office.

Once you have registered the office will send you the SAMA (82) Sponsor form.

If you are unable to undertake the walk but can help in any other way, (admin on the day, getting sponsorship etc) please let us know.

Missing Members

The office has received a large number of returns of the Newsletter marked ‘gone away’. This is a considerable cost to the organisation.

If you have not received your copy of the March Newsletter it is probably because we do not have current contact details for you. Please update the office using the online form by telephoning the office. This will ensure that we are not wasting money and that you are all kept up to date with what is happening – especially with the 30th anniversary approaching
