Red, White & Blue Day 2016 – Get pupils to build a battleship and remember the Battle of Jutland

Register today for your Welcome Pack

One hundred years ago in May on the cold North Sea, one of the biggest naval battles in history took place. Pitting the might of the Royal Navy against the German High Seas Fleet, 250 dreadnoughts, battleships, destroyers and cruisers fought the most pivotal sea battle of the First World War, the Battle of Jutland.

To remember all those that took part, and the many thousands who sacrificed their lives, this year Red, White and Blue Day is asking pupils across the country to make their own paper battleships and set the sails for the seven seas*.

This fun activity will teach the pupils about the Battle of Jutland and challenge their creative skills. To find out more visit www.redwhiteblueday.co.uk.

We would love to see your creations. Email your photos tosupport@redwhiteblueday.co.uk so we can share them on our website, social media or in the press.

Be part of the commemorations

We’d really like to make a splash with your pupils’ designs. If you submit your favourite ships to us by post before the 20th May, they may appear as part of the wider national commemorations! Visit the Red, White & Blue Day website for more details.

Take part on the day
Sign up to this year’s Red, White and Blue Day to receive a welcome pack and learn more about other military events which shaped 1916, including the famous Battle of the Somme.

Red, White and Blue Day takes place every October when schools nationwide raise vital funds to support the work of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. On Friday 14th October, we’re asking school children to dress in red, white and blue for one day, and donate just £1 to support the work of the UK’s three leading military charities.
